At the end of the game, British Consul John Fisher presented the "Dave Kennedy Mercury Trophy" to both goalkeepers; the team winning the first league match between the clubs in the following season would retain it. As Sunderland beat Huddersfield 4-1 on 27th August 1955, it should be in the trophy cabinet!
