This was the first of three matches that the Spanish FA used as trials to decide their squad for the 1934 World Cup in Italy. Gorostiza was injured in the 22nd minute, and was replaced until 25th minute by Lafuente, and permanently for the second half. The game was played in Athletic Bilbao's original stadium, where they played until 2013.
