Bob Kyle wrote that the game was rough, and at one point This was an exhibition match played in Poszony, then in the Hungarian half of the Austria-Hungary Empire, but now Bratislava (Slovakia). It was clearly a novelty in the city, played on a makeshift ground of the local gymnastic club; the ground would not become a formal football ground until some years later. It attracted a large crowd, including one of the Hapsburgs, Archduke Albrecht Franz.
Billy Cringan retaliated and was sent off, but after some gentle persuasion of the referee he was allowed to remain, the referee announcing to the crowd in the stand that the two players had made up!
