Middlesbrough were denied a third goal in the second half due to an incredible refereeing decision. Lindy Delapenha struck a penalty into the net, but the ball then rolled through a hole in the side netting. The Sunderland players appealed, the referee consulted the linesman and then amazingly awarded a goal kick; indicating that somehow the ball must have curled round the post and into the side-netting on it's route from the penalty spot!
