This was the first team of black players to tour the UK. In the press they were called "Kaffirs", now an extremely derogatory term, but at the end of the 19th Century considered "neutral". They were actually an amateur team from Basuto, South Africa that were affiliated to the Orange Free State FA. The match was only 30 minutes each way, with no interval.
